Tina Kaminski, 3rd Grade Hebrew and Judaica
Shalom, my name is Tina Kaminski, though my students call me Morah Tina, which means 'teacher' in Hebrew. With over 25 years of experience teaching Hebrew and Judaic Studies at esteemed institutions like Sinai Temple Religious School, Harkham Hillel Hebrew Academy, and Pressman Academy of Temple Beth Am, I am thrilled to join Temple Shalom of South Bay.
My passion for teaching comes from a deep love of learning. I hold a Master’s degree in Teaching Hebrew from Middlebury Language School in Vermont and a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from Kyiv Pedagogical Institute. Additionally, I have earned teaching certificates from UCLA, Seminar Gordon in Haifa, and the Teacher Institute in Jerusalem. My approach to education is interactive and engaging, and I am always seeking to create active learning opportunities for my students.
I am deeply committed to Jewish education, with a special focus on teaching Hebrew and Torah. As an Israeli-American, my connection to Israel is both personal and professional. I regularly incorporate Israeli music, dance, art, and stories into my lessons to enrich the Jewish educational experience. My ties to Israel are further strengthened by having one family member currently serving in the Israeli Army.
Creating a safe and welcoming environment is of utmost importance to me, especially now. I want my students to feel seen and valued, knowing that their contributions matter. I encourage diverse perspectives and experiences, fostering a sense of connection and community within the classroom.
I believe in fostering a growth mindset, offering my students the support they need to approach challenges with confidence. I am married and blessed with two sons. When I’m not teaching, I enjoy the many delights of living in Southern California, such as hiking, playing pickleball, gardening, and taking long walks with my family and dog. I love traveling and try to visit Israel whenever I can.
