Gidon Shikler, Cantor & B'nai Mitzvah Tutor
Grounded by multiple nationalities and roots as varied as they are far reaching, feeling in tune to the world is for Cantor Gidon Shikler a given. Introduced to Jewish song and prayer by his father and legendary Cantor Emeritus of 50 years, Arie Manela Shikler - Gidon brings his unique, positive, upbeat style of music and soul into the Jewish musical sphere.
His lifelong spiritual quest has been enriched through experiencing a kaleidoscope of Jewish community. From growing up in a Reform synagogue in Orange County, to discovering the deep and ancient treasures of wisdom and prayer in a hippy Orthodox Moshav in Israel; learning with and becoming close friends with families and teachers at the Lubavitch center during his years earning his BA in Photography at The London Institute in the United Kingdom. Gidon continually aims to seek out the threads that unite us as one family of Israelites.
As well as leading services as a Cantor, Gidon is an accomplished world reggae soul artist who has lived and performed across the globe including stints in London, Israel, and the island of Jamaica. He is a songwriter and producer who has released original albums and songs over the years and is currently germinating his distinct, high-vibe sounds live with his band across Los Angeles and beyond. He is constantly engaged in recording and releasing his original music, as well as producing many other aspiring and accomplished artists' songs out of his "Home Bass" studio. Gidon lives in Culver City with his wife Andrea and their two young boys Adir and Azai.
